I am using windows xp, Its having in-built firewall, is it possible to block particular port by using this firewall? Or should I use another software for it to block a port?

there are lot of port scanners and programs that tell you what programs are opening what ports and stuff. Windows task manager is a good handy tool but there are a lot of root kits that can hide under windows task manager , i urgely suggest that you get a-squared HiJackFree its much better than windows task manager, i use it all the time.

I wouldn't touch that tool if i didn't know what it does!
First of all, it can destroy your PC if you don't select the correct problems.
What do i mean by destroying? it can remove spooler.exe process which is a process for printing.
Please be careful when you are using that!

you can also try using different share ware firewall or opensource firewall like comodo it free to use and also we a distribute it openly. or can use zonelabs zonealaram which is also good
