Techies at Gmail Labs are busy developing out a new feature which will help us to access Gmail even if we were offline.

When enabling this feature, Gmail will load in the browser even if you don't have an internet connection. You can also read messages, label, star and archieve them, compose the new mail and be ready to be sent that mail when u'll be online. This new feature will be built on Gears platform.

So, here's the step to enable this feature:
Click on settings after signing in.
Now click on Labs tab.
Then click on Enable on the "Offline Gmail" tab. Now save changes.
After this you will see a offline link in the upper righthand corner.
That's it now get ready to rock & roll :)

This article is written by me by referring to some sites like tech2, but this article is unique and doesn't have any source.

That is a nifty feature. Of course, you can't recieve new emails while in offline mode, but you can still check your old emails!

I wonder what this news convey. I have been using Gmail/yahoomail offline from quite sometime (more than a year) on my mobile device, on my home PC etc. All you need to do is configure POP3 access on a mail client.

We are not talking here about mail client, ofcourse any one can do it, but we are talking here about viewing mails in browser. You can view your old mails and can compose a mail and be ready to send whenever u r online, this is the main functionality provided and that also in your browser only. Read the news carefully.

That may be difficult for slower connections. As lot of data would be downloaded.
