Wordpress help needed

Hi,

I created this new thread so that the wordpress theme thread remains clean. I want to install a downloaded theme to wordpress. I downloaded wordpress from wordpress.org. I also edited wp-config.php. I choose a free web hosting site for myself and name is byethost.com. I also created a new sql database name and it is b14_2945219_Wordpress. Some queries here:

What should i write on the name of database. I wrote "b14_2945219_Wordpress". M I correct?

My username & password are correct of byethost.

Last thing, what should i write in MySQL hostname, it is localhost by default, i didn't changed it. M I correct here also?

And i didn't edited anything more. Now how to run the install script? I got this from a site "http://example.com/wp-admin/install.php " So what should i write in example's place, my blog or my webhost address? I have tried to done both but no success. Another thing is that there is a index.html in my webhost, it told me to replace that with my blogs name, so I did that. Have i done correct here also?

The install script is not coming. I don't know y.

Login in your control panel, and navigate to MySQL
There you can see complete database name.


My username & password are correct of byethost.

you don't need web hosting account username and password. You need database name, database user name, database password.

localhost should work..else you will need to contact byehost.

If you want to use free web hosting account and want to use wordpress, I will suggest you to use free web hosting from wordpress. You can signup for a free wordpress account from here:

First my database name is correct. Byethost requires no creation of username & password after creating a SQL database. It just asks name of database. That's it. On signing of my a/c it gave me a pdf file stating my sql username, password, ftp username, password, etc. So I don't need to create a separate a/c & even there's no option of creating an a/c after mentioning the name of database. So my username & pass of byethost r correct.

Hosting on wordpress.com is not free just check it. And i referred to that installation guide previously also. It didn't helped me.

You just tell me this thing: http://example.com/wp-admin/install.php. What should i write in place of example.com? My blogs name or what?? Here is my problem. Just tell me this.

Suppose your site is abc.com and you are installing wordpress in main directory, than replace example.com by abc.com

Suppose your site is abc.com and you are installing wordpress in any sub-directory,like abc.com/blog than replace example.com by abc.com/blog

may be you need to change the host... and yes woredpress is free.

ok, Installed wordpress, all done correctly. I also uploaded contents of downloaded theme to wp-comtent/themes. All done correctly. Even I can see my uploaded theme in "Presentation" tab. It is showing correctly. When I click on it to apply, it also happens correctly. It is applied. But when I click on "View Site" I get a error stating "Fatal error: Call to undefined function language_attributes() in /www/freehyperspace5.com/s/a/m/samk10/htdocs/samk10_wordpress/wp-content/themes/ericsson-mag/header.php on line 3". I think on clicking on view site I must see my blog. Isn't it?

Main problem is that the theme doesn't get applied. In current theme, it is showing correctly as my uploaded theme, but the theme remains of the original theme. I can't apply my uploaded theme, but why? I am correct now.

The new theme should work... or may be that theme has some problem. Try other themes.
