Hello guys I just wanted to share how I'm automating all my downloads during the night free usage time 2:00AM to 8:00AM. I got fed up with staying awake till 2:00AM, adding my download links and sleeping at odd times..Instead wake up your system at 2:00AM to make it work for you. So here are the instructions..

1. Download this app WakeUp On Standby to wake up ur system from either standby or hibernation mode(Enable hibernation in your system before u attempt this). This simple free utlity should work if you have APM enabled in your system. I guess it is Advanced Power Management or something but I think it works with all modern motherboards. It's working fine for me.

Download it here

2. Configure the app as shown in this picture.

In the first step, set the date and time as shown (The date there is only for illustration). Remeber that if u want to download anything this night you shud set tomorrow's date. I hope nobody is confused with this step. :-)

3. I haven't tried the 2nd 3rd and 4th steps as shown in the picture so I haven't ticked them. What all I have tried are checked black. Coming to 5th step, click Start to activate the routine. You can even save this entire routine to a batch file by clicking the button with three dots just beside Start.

4. Add a scheduled task in the Task Scheduler to run your torrent client like Azureus or Utorrent or even your Internet Download Manager or whatever u use for downloading stuff to run at 2:05 AM* (This is just to make sure that u don't have to face unneccesary bandwidth wastage). If you use Azureus or Utorrent it's the easiest way to automate downloads completely. In Azureus and Utorrent there are options to search for torrent files in a particular folder and downloading them automatically. Even in other download managers you can just schedule your downloads to run at 2:05 AM.

5. Once you have finished adding scheduled tasks, select "Set into Stand-By" or "Hibernate" as per your wish and comfort. Don't turn OFF your modem or PC(Most ppl forget this). If you have followed everything as explained you should watch your downloads at 8:00AM in the morning. I don't think anyone here is too lazy to wake up even at 8:00AM. If that is the case use rasdial command to disconnect your modem at 7:55AM. You'll find the explanation below.

Some exceptions...
I'm using NETGEAR DG632 ADSL modem and I get the old IP which I'm assigned before starting this app. I mean that if I configured this app just before going to bed...say 11:00PM with an IP Address 59.93.121.68 ....I'll get the same IP Address at 2:03AM.. a few minutes after my system woke up from hibernation at 2:00AM. However this is not tha case with other users who have BSNL modem. They need to run a command called rasdial to initiate their internet connection at 2:03AM. Just access Help and Support in the start menu and type rasdial in the search box to get full info. Here is the syntax
rasdial ConnectionName [UserName [{Password|*}]]
... where ConnectionName is dataone, User name and password are the username and password you were given while your connection was set up. Create a batch file with the above command and add it to Task Scheduler to run at 2:03AM. To create a batch file, open notepad, add your content and save it with the extension .bat .

Just give this tutorial a try now before you actually use it to download during nights. If you like this tutorial please increase my reputation.
