When you use Internet Explorer 8 to browse a Web site on a computer that is running Windows 7 Release Candidate (RC), Internet Explorer 8 stops responding. Additionally, you receive the following error message:
A webpage is not responding on the following website: <Web site name>
Cause:
Windows 7 RC includes a feature in Internet Explorer 8 that helps users recover from unresponsive Web sites. This feature uses a timer to detect when a Web page has become unresponsive. On low performance computers or on computers under high load conditions, the time-out value is frequently exceeded. Therefore, you frequently receive the error message that is described in the Symptoms section.
Solution I:
You can prevent this error by adding a DWORD registry value named HangResistance with a value of 0 in one of the following registry subkey:
* HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\MAIN
* HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\MAIN
To add a registry value, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\MAIN
or
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\MAIN
3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
4. Type HangResistance, and then press ENTER.
5. Right-click HangResistance, and then click Modify.
6. In the Value data box, type 0, and then click OK.
7. Exit Registry Editor.
Solution II :
Install an update. An update that is dated May 5, 2009 is available from Windows Update.
