I have an 2 year old system

Asrock 845 GVmotherboard
256 MB DDR RAM
P4 2.4 Ghz

I want to upgrade my RAM to 1 GB...I have some queries

1.Should i go for 2 RAM's(one 256 and another one) or a single 1 GB RAM...?
2.I have heard that the if 2 RAM's are used then they must match in specifications like frequency...
How to know that.....?
3.Good 1 RAM ram and it's street price....

This will not create much difference. If your mother board support dual channel, than go for 2X 512MB RAM chips.

Both RAM can of any company, and can be of any frequency. The point is that both the RAM will work at lower frequency of the two. Only care that, the RAM type should be supported by your motherboard like DDR, DDR2

3.Good 1 RAM ram and it's street price....
Kingston, trasend, Hynix are good brand.
667 MHz 1GB will come around 1k.

I have little confusion about this. Better read motherboard manual for the same. In my opinion you cant use different type of RAM set.

I have DDR 2 and the memory is 2GB because I wanted to learn Maya and 3D Max So that much Heavy load is requried and most of all the prices are going down where any one can afford those.

You have to check the manual for the RAM frequency supported by your computer. Then accordingly you can purchase the Hardware.

You wont be able to add DDR2 ram in the motherboard having DDR capability. The reason being the pic count vary in both the RAMs. Although you can mix RAMs of different frequencies.
