My ATP3 was running OK till yesterday. But today when I powered on the speakers, and played a movie, the woofer is full of distortion though the satellites sound perfect. Then I brought the bass level to zero, but still any sound from woofer is sounding like a wet tabla. I felt the bass is gone, only vibration is there. :( I am very very upset.

I purchased Altec Lansing ATP3 2 months back. At the time of purchase, the production of ATP3 was stopped. So I searched every shop and managed to get one. Like all, I had never imagined such sound quality. I was extremely happy. I am a bass freak, so I started to play at the full bass. Then after some days, I kept the bass at 50% and continued to listen at this setting. I may have done a wrong thing at first when I played some of the sound testing files like 'ultimate woofer test', 'deepest bass test' etc. After these, I felt the bass is distorting at high volumes which was not when I first purchased the speakers. But I managed that problem as I don't listen at high volumes.

But the current problem was unbearable for me. I have tested everything but no result. The woofer was unable to produce even slightest bass. Only if I lower the volume level to 10-20% the distortion cant be heard.

please advice what to do http://i28.tinypic.com/33acb5x.gif

I think the problem is with speaker itself.

But the problem can also related with system sound setting.
set the system sound setting to all default.
set the media player setting to default.

And atlast, try your speaker on other system.

If none helps you..than take it to nearest local service shops.
