Indeed Joomla is good as a CMS. You can also try Drupal, it is also clutter free and streamlined. BTW there is Wordpress for the newbies who just want to setup a blog. :)

You have two options joomla and wordpress, I would prefer to go with wordpress as its easy compare to joomla. But it depends with which you feel comfortable.

Joomla is pretty good but it is mainly meant for geeks, for non programmers who want to built a website on their own and use a CMS for it,for them zimplit (http://www.zimplit.com) has been god sent.
It was developed keeping non programmers in mind.It does not require a database and you need write a single line of code.

Joomla is a good CMS. You can try it. Maybe you need to purchase a template for your requirement.

I prefer Joomla and WordPress. They are user friendly and really professional.
