I require the laptop for -
1. Study work & programming
2. Surfing
3. Occasionly listening to songs or watching movies

I suggest VAIO VGN-NS230E/W White Notebook!!!
It costs a fortune but i love it!
Has 3 year guarantee also and Windows XP which i worship, 2GB of memory and 1.6Ghz Intel Atom Cpu! Sony gives you the option to change any of the hardware parts with newer and better for a small fee, not the buy price.

Seeing your requirements, I would suggest dont spend much. Try looking at Acer. There are few models that fall under your budget and they are much better value for money that other HYPED brands.

the last and best option according to my expirence is Mac laptop you can run win or mac os x this is the best master peace which has glossy display rich features..WI fi blue tooth fire wire port and the best battery backup mac LP comes with lithum polymer battery which works 8 hrs live i have tested pratically by playing MP3 and videos for 8 hrs booting time less than 40 seconds..no chance of Virus in mac like win..check the site apple.com for the latest laptops..you will get with in 45K because i am also a mac user//
