Google has started their OS with Android Desktop.. sources says that it will launched by 2010. This can be very interesting.

That is really awesome news.Now google is rying to brake the rule of computer by apple and also microsoft.What a smart strategy from google.

If it's from google, than it's worth looking.
But I seriously doubt of its success, because of Linux (mainly Ubuntu) and Windows XP/Vista (And also Windows 7 in future). Because Windows 7 results are good so far. (Better than vista, IMHO).

Actually they have been working on this OS for years, i still remember when i downloaded the beta version from sourgeforce that included an emulator and SKE , they even had a contest to see who could create the best applications for the Android. I cant wait for the Android , you can totally customize it yourself, even though its not savy tech friendly.

yes android os was basically designed for cellphone but later implemented in desktop and sun is also making javafx which is for mobile desktop and settop boxes platform.
besides android has a large pool of programmer and has a good api.
also android cellphone is released
