How to setup a basic HTML page with jQuery

Below is the basic structure of a HTML page without jQuery.

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<title>my first jQuery page</title>
<meta charset="utf-8" />
</head>
<body>
<!-- our HTML contents here -->
</body>
</html>

Step 1:
Download latest version of jQuery from jQuery.com and link it in head section of your HTML page.

You can also link to a remotely hosted jQuery code, but we will discuss about this later.

Step 2:
Below is the basic structure of a HTML page with jQuery

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<title>my first jQuery page</title>
<script type="text/javascript" src="jquery-1.7.2.min.js"></script>          
 <script type="text/javascript">                                         
   // we will add our jQuery code here                                     
 </script> 
</head>
<body>
<!-- our HTML content here -->
</body>
</html>
