How to reset WordPress Admin Password using phpMyAdmin

Lots of WordPress powered websites are hacked everyday. Once your WordPress website is hacked, you won’t be able to login in admin dashboard of wordpress. In such cases you need to reset your admin password using some alternative method.

One method to reset wordpress admin / any user password is using phpMyAdmin. In this tutorial I will explain how to reset wordpress admin password using phpMyAdmin.

Step 1:

Login in cPanel of your web hosting account.

www.domain.com/cpanel
OR
www.domain.com:2082

Step 2:

Click phpMyAdmin
cpanel-phpmyadmin

Step 3:

You are now on phpMyAdmin page. On the left hand side, click on the database name that is connected to your wordpress site.

Step 4:

Now click on wp_user
wpuser-phpmyadmin

Step 5:

Click edit for the user whose password you want to change.

Step 6:

In user_pass row enter the new password and select function as MD5 and click go button.

Your WprdPress admin password is now changed. In similar way you can change other details like login username, email ID etc.
